Our Story
At Southeast Elementary, we strive to create a safe school environment where students can collaborate respectfully, responsibly, and creatively. We are pleased to be able to offer a comprehensive educational program, guided by the NCSCOS, to our K-5 students as we seek to positively impact them as learners and as citizens of our school community.
Inspire
Our school is inspiring a love of learning by creating spaces for students to be themselves. We do this through an inclusive library collection and culturally responsive literature. We provide our students with flexible seating and VAKT (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic) learning. Students have the opportunity to join clubs and participate in different school programs such as theater shows, Elementary Battle of the Books, and Science Olympiad. Teachers take students on in person and virtual field trips into the community and surrounding areas to expose students to new experiences.
Imagine
Southeast empowers students to take ownership of their learning by providing choice boards and self guided projects for our students to complete at their own pace. Students write, direct, and record their theater shows to showcase their learning. We use technology based curriculum to engage and self pace our students to learn at a pace comfortable
Impact
We share Southeast’s success through our school Facebook page that is updated weekly by our Digital Learning Specialist. In addition, our students post their completed work on Seesaw; which is then shared with parents and families. Students are invited to school board presentations and Gifted Galas to showcase their learning. Within the school, students are celebrated quarterly with award ceremonies where parents and the community are invited.
